WHY YouTube Deleted 5M Channels And 1.7M+ Videos?

The popular video-sharing site YouTube is not only an entertainment and educational platform, YouTube is currently one of the best ways to earn money. And many people around the world have chosen YouTube as their main means of earning money. There are billions of YouTube content creators in the world called YouTubers. Those who upload videos on various topics on their YouTube channel and are earning lakhs of money per month through video views. But this time YouTube authority gave a piece of bad news to some YouTubers.

YouTube Deleted 1.7 million videos

Recently, YouTube authorities have deleted about 5 million YouTube channels. Along with that, YouTube authorities have also confirmed the deletion of about 5.6 million videos and 72 million irrelevant comments. YouTube reported this information in its third-quarter report.

YouTube has already deleted most of the active videos due to non-compliance with YouTube's user and spam policy. The deleted videos contained false information. Also used are misleading fake thumbnails, irrelevant thumbnail editing, and various types of fraudulent video content. Spam was also seen extensively in the comments of some videos.


According to YouTube authorities, in the third quarter of 2022, more than 94 percent of videos deleted by the search were identified with the help of sophisticated artificial intelligence (AI)  programs. However, this research also revealed that about 36 percent of the videos deleted from YouTube were deleted from the YouTube server before the video was publicly viewed. Of these, 31 percent of videos were deleted before less than 10 people saw them. On the other hand, out of the total number of deleted videos, there is 67 percent of videos have been deleted before 10 people have seen them.

Among these deleted YouTube channels, India has the largest number of video channels. In the previous quarter of this year, YouTube authorities deleted about 1.3 million active videos from April to June and about 1.7 million from July to September. Basically, the authorities have deleted all YouTube channels and their videos that create comment spam, fake thumbnails, irrelevant editing, and fraudulent content. Video-sharing tech giant YouTube has taken such tough steps to protect YouTube users from scams through its beautiful platform and videos.


Note that the popular YouTube site is a video-sharing platform owned by Google. Which was bought by Google in October 2006 for 1.65 billion US dollars.
