WhatsApp Edit Feature Launched, Here Is How To Edit

WhatsApp has officially introduced the ability to edit messages. The messaging service shared the news on its blog today, after testing the feature in beta versions of its apps for some time. According to the official WhatsApp blog, this amazing message edit feature is already rolling out worldwide and will reach all users within just a week.

To use the feature, you need to long-press the message you want to edit and choose “edit.” You can edit messages for up to 15 minutes, so you won’t be able to fix any older errors.

Edited messages will show a small “Edited” label next to their timestamp to inform chat participants that they’ve been modified. It’s a very similar method to the one Apple adopted for iMessage when it added its version of the feature last year.

WhatsApp already lets users delete messages, so technically, it’s possible to fix typos by removing the wrong message and sending it again. But deleting a message leaves a “this message was deleted” notice, which can look untidy. Simply editing a message should be much cleaner.

Editable messages are part of a busy month for WhatsApp. This month alone, it’s launched a new app for Wear OS smartwatches, introduced new options for polls and captions, and revealed a new locked conversations feature.
