350cc Motorcycle Is Coming To Bangladesh Very Soon

In Bangladesh, there was no permission to ride bikes above 165cc, which is why Bangladeshi people couldn't do anything other than feel disappointed when they saw Royal Enfield or TVS's 350cc bikes on the road. However, now that hope is about to be fulfilled.

In any other country in the world, there is no such restriction on the CC of motorcycles. However, in Bangladesh, there has been no permission to ride bikes above 165cc for a long time. Before 2017, the limit was 155cc. Although there is no direct relationship between the CC of a motorcycle and its speed, just like in a 300cc or 500cc motorcycle, you can achieve the same speed as a 165cc motorcycle.

Last Thursday (September 7th), in a meeting at the Ministry of Commerce, approval was given for the production and distribution of motorcycles of this kind. As a result, discussions have been going on for several years between motorcycle manufacturers and the government. The Ministry of Commerce has permitted motorcycles up to 350cc to be used on the roads. However, motorcycles of this type cannot be manufactured in complete form in the country. They can only be assembled in the country by importing them in a completely knocked-down (CKD) condition from abroad and then making them available in the market.

According to the Motorcycle Industry Development Policy 2018, manufacturers can import motorcycles with engines up to 500cc. However, permission to ride these bikes was not available in the country. The Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission has recommended raising this CC limit to 350cc.

In July next year, the 350cc Royal Enfield of the company will be officially released in the country's market. After that, it will start exporting this motorcycle to the international market. The iconic motorcycle brand Royal Enfield of the United Kingdom is setting up a factory in Bangladesh to bring it to the market in Bangladesh. Efad Autos, located in Mirsarai, Chittagong, is establishing a factory in the Bangabandhu Industrial Zone.
