Instagram doesn’t have a full “off” switch, but you can reduce data usage. To do that...
1. Tap your profile picture from bottom right.
2. Tap the three line menu (top right) ➜ Settings and activity ➜ Your app and media.
3. Select Media quality and turn on “Use less cellular data”.
This won’t stop autoplay completely, but it helps when you are not on Wi-Fi.

2. Select Accessibility, display, and languages ➜ Data usage.
3. Turn off “Video autoplay”.
For extra caution, go back to Settings and privacy ➜ Display and sound and toggle off “Media previews”.
