Bangladesh Launches Free Starlink Wi-Fi On Trains

Good news for train passengers in Bangladesh. You can now enjoy highspeed internet while traveling, as the government has launched a pilot project to provide FREE Starlink WiFi on select intercity trains. This marks the first time satellite based internet has been introduced on moving trains in the country.

How to use Starlink Wi-Fi on Parjatak Express train, Bangladesh satellite internet trial on trains 2026

The initiative was launched experimentally on Friday (March 13, 2026) by the Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited (BSCL) in collaboration with Bangladesh Railway. The project has been implemented under the direct guidance of Rehan Asif Asad, Adviser to the Ministries of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, and Science and Technology. He has already visited the project site twice to observe the trial operations and provide necessary directives for future improvements.
In this initial stage, the service is available on three popular intercity trains:

⦿ Parjatak Express.
⦿ Upaban Express.
⦿ Bonolota Express.

Passengers on these trains can easily access the internet by scanning a QR code inside the coach, which will connect them to the Starlink WiFi network.

BSCL Managing Director and CEO Imadur Rahman stated that the company is working to improve the country's digital connectivity in line with the government's commitments. "The introduction of Starlink internet on moving trains will allow passengers to enjoy better services and make railway travel more modern and convenient," he said.

This pilot project is part of a larger government plan to introduce free WiFi services at all airports and railway stations across the country. Railway authorities have indicated that if the trial proves successful, the Starlink based internet service will gradually be introduced on other high demand and nonstop intercity trains nationwide. Once fully implemented, passengers will be able to carry out activities such as freelancing, attending online classes, or completing office work while traveling by train.
