This milestone comes amid significant leadership changes in Google's AI division. Demis Hassabis, the Nobel winning founder of DeepMind who led the team that built Gemini, has stepped down as CEO to become Alphabet's Chief Scientist. He will now focus entirely on Artificial General Intelligence research, which he believes is now "Close at hand" and could become reality within three years.

Taking over as DeepMind CEO is Koray Kavukcuoglu, the former CTO, who will report directly to Sundar Pichai.
